Shamrock Doodle Art Logical Reasoning Activity

This shamrock doodle art activity is super simple and so soothing to complete! This activity is a great way to practice logical reasoning skills as well!

We love an activity that lets our right brain release some free-flowing creativity and this St. Patrick’s Day activity does not disappoint!

We used a simple shamrock drawing to complete this activity. You can grab that free printable at the end of the post.

The only supplies you’ll need are a fine point black marker and a range of green, gold, silver, and yellow crayons.

Shamrock Doodle Art

This shamrock doodle art activity couldn’t be any easier to complete. There is one rule to follow: no patterns that match can touch each other.

This means that you’ll have to think of a unique pattern to put next to every pattern. You can repeat patterns, but they cannot touch a similar pattern.

Use your logical reasoning skills to doodle the shamrock! We did the activity twice to compare our different shamrocks!

Logical reasoning is the ability to analyze and make predictions about things or explaining why something is the way that it is.

COMPUTATIONAL THINKING CONCEPTS

Computational thinking is a new way of problem solving that involves thinking about a problem in a way that can be solved by using computing tools like logic, decomposition, abstractions, algorithmspatterns, data collection and analysis, and simulation or modeling.

Computational thinking can be used to solve problems in almost all areas of our lives and helps kids develop some pretty great life skills that can apply to a variety of situations.

What is a computational thinker?

A computational thinker approaches problems through experimentation and play to solve a problem that might have more than one possible solution. It also involves working together with others to reach a common goal and persevering when faced with a difficult problem.

STEAM activities reinforce computational thinking skills by helping kids to find and fix errors in complex problems and design and make solutions for open-ended problems.

Doodle Shamrock Coloring Page

If you’d just like to color an already doodled shamrock, I’ve included a copy of my drawn doodle below. It is ready to be colored. You can still use logical reasoning to color the shamrock by making sure to keep the same colors from touching.
